Group donates items to motherless babies’ home

The Professional Women Accountants in ANAN (PROWAN) yesterday donated food items to the Nigerian Red Cross Society Motherless and Abandoned Babies Home in Makoko, Lagos to kick-start this year’s Lagos Mandatory and Continuing Professional Development Programme (MCPD).

Handing over the items to the matron of the home, the Chairperson, Princess Elemanya Ebilah, said the donation was a humanitarian gesture to the babies, adding that PROWAN realised that as mothers, who knew the implication of not enjoying parental care, they thought it wise to visit the home with their widows’ mite before the beginning of their annual MCPD, which coincidentally was zoned to Lagos.

Ebilah, in company of the former president of the association, Mrs Iyamide Gafar, said besides the donation, the body also had big plans for the home in future, expressing the desire of members to donate items to the home each time they have the opportunity to be around.

PROWAN donated two bags of rice, four cartons of Caprisonne, six bundles of tissues, five cartons of Indomie noddles, one bag of Ariel detergent, one carton of Peak Milk, one carton of Golden Morn, one carton of Milo and four bundles of pampers to the home.

The matron, Mrs. Taiwo Idowu, who received the items, thanked PROWAN for the humanitarian gesture, saying the home had been enjoying the philanthropic and humanitarian gesture of the association.

She assured the delegation that the items would be judiciously used for babies.

Idowu hailed other groups, corporate bodies and individuals who had donated to the home.
