It was an excitement filled evening as students from 14 different public secondary schools in Lagos engaged in a battle of intellect and knowledge to win a scholarship and prize money at Star rising mastermind education initiative held on children’s day May 29, at the Civic Center, Victoria Island Lagos.
Star rising mastermind education initiative is a sister project to Star rising education initiative which are both brainchildren of Mrs Kay Ovia, wife of the founder and chairman of Zenith bank, unlike its sister project Star rising mastermind education initiative looks to reward academic brilliance and excellence among students in public secondary school in Lagos by making them compete in a friendly academic environment.
Paul Agada and Raji Bashiru of Ajayi crowther memorial school emerged winner of the second edition of Star rising Mastermind thereby winniing for themselves the Grand Price of a full scholarship to any tertiary institution of their choice,a cash prize of 150,000 and prize money of N50,000 for their school and a Trophy, Andoi Paul and Awotula Bukola of Randle senior secondary school came first runner-up and they won a cash prize of N120,000 for themselves and N30,000 with a Trophy, The boys from Stadium High School who came second runnerup got a cash prize of N100,000 a Trophy and N25,000 for their school.
The board of trustee consisting of Kachi Onyeagwu, Punam Dani, Ngozi Eze, Abi Ayoku & Remi Diagbare told reporter in a press conference that Star rising seeks to give opportunities to prospective students who don’t have much by giving them a platform to actualize their dreams. Secondary schools present at the second edition of star rising mastermind include United Christian secondary school, National College Bariga, Dolphin senior High school, Somolu Senior High school amongst others.
