Ondo state police command has unravelled the circumstances leading to the death of a 54-year-old civil servant in the state, Florence Adelayi.
The decomposing body of Adelayi was found locked inside her apartment at Premier Estate, Okunbadejo street along Oda road in Akure.
A knife which was reportedly used to stab her several times on the back was found at the scene.
Her 17 years old niece simply identified as Wumi, who was arrested in connection to the crime has confessed to killing Adelayi.
The suspect said she killed her foster mother because the deceased always reminded her to take her medication.
Neighbours said they thought late Adelayi travelled when they did not see her for days even when the suspect was seen roaming the street.

One of the neighbours said: “We woke up to see some strange black flies coming out of her compound on Sunday morning. But we could not access the compound because the gate was locked from the outside. There was no sign of anybody at home. So, we put calls across to her family members.
“No one can say what was responsible for her death. The best people can do is to speculate”.
Another source said: “The deceased came home with the girl from the office on Wednesday, greeted us and drove into her compound. That was the last time we saw her.
“The woman had been going through a lot to cope with the mental challenge of the girl, which gave her many sleepless nights.
“She had spent more than N1.5 million on the girl’s illness and refused to take her back to her parents because she would be lonely since she had no child. So, she had been avoiding most of her relatives and friends advising her to return the girl.”
Ondo police spokesman, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said it was during interrogation that the suspect confessed to have stabbed her foster mother and locked her up in the house her because she was always disturbing her to use her medication.
According to her, “The stench oozing out of the house attracted the residents who notified the deceased sister .
“The sister on arrival peeped through the window and saw the body on the floor,hence police was informed. The corpse at a decomposing state was removed for preservation.
“Family members claimed the young girl had been under her late Aunt’s tutelage since she was 6 years but developed mental illness in 2023 and was admitted at a psychiatric hospital in the state. The young girl was discharged and handed over to the late woman to continue to monitor her.
“The psychiatric hospital where she was treated confirmed this claim by providing the Police with her medical history.
“Suspect is currently in Police Medical facility for safe keeping to avoid injury to herself and others.”
