‘How we’ll tackle traffic at Lekki Free Trade Zone’

Lagos State has granted approval to Callup Technology to develop and implement Electronic Queueing Management System (EQMS) and automated call-up system to reduce gridlock around Lekki Free Trade Zone

The zone, home to over 50 companies, including Dangote Refinery, is expected to witness an increase in vehicular traffic.

To avoid traffic disaster, the state has entered an agreement with Callup , a leading provider of innovative solutions for transportation management.

The EQMS, which Callup adopted, revolutionises truck traffic management by streamlining operations, improving efficiency, and ensuring seamless coordination.

It is designed to address challenges of congestion and optimise flow of goods and services within the corridor with modern technology and intelligent algorithms to allocate resources efficiently and reduce waiting time for trucks.

By implementing this cutting-edge solution, Callup aims to transform the transportation landscape, facilitating growth and fostering a more sustainable and efficient system.

In a statement, Timi Koleolu, chief executive officer, hoped the EQMS would make positive impact on the corridor.

“Our Electronic Queue Management System is a game-changer in truck traffic management, providing real-time insight and actionable data to optimise movement of trucks within Lekki-Epe Free Zone Corridor. We are proud to introduce this advanced solution to enhance efficiency, reduce congestion, and improve road safety.”

Koleolu highlights the collaboration and support of key stakeholders in the industry.

“We hail Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his leadership and support throughout development and implementation of EQMS,” he said.

He acknowledged the contributions of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in promoting innovation and efficiency in the transportation and maritime sectors.

The statement added, “Callup Technology acknowledges the cooperation and support of key stakeholders in the transportation and maritime industries. By engaging with industry leaders such as the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD), and National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), The Council of Maritime Truck Unions and Associations (COMTUA), Maritime workers union (MWUN) and The Association of Maritime Truck Owners (AMATO) Callup Technology ensures the successful onboarding of truck drivers onto the EQMS. This collaborative approach strengthens industry partnerships, enhances safety measures, and facilitates a seamless integration of all participants in the transportation ecosystem.

“Callup Technology is excited about the transformative potential of the EQMS and is committed to working closely with the Lagos State Government, relevant stakeholders, and industry players to ensure its widespread adoption and success.
