HYPPADEC empowers 300 North Central youths

The Managing Director of Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission, (HYPPADEC) Mr Abubakar Sediq Yelwa has said plans have been concluded to distribute over 1,000 motorcycles to security personnel across the six states in North Central.

He disclosed this at the stakeholders’ meeting on the dissemination of the report on the outcome of the NEEDS assessment exercise conducted by HYPPADEC and her technical/development partner, the new approach, held in Plateau State.

Abubakar Yelwa pointed out that 300 youths would be engaged in a youth transformation programme.

He said Barkin Ladi, Bassa and Bokkos local government areas in Plateau State have been selected to benefit from the gestures.

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Danladi Atu said the need assessment has given the Commission an insight on how to intervene in resolving the challenges facing the host communities.

Lalong noted that the state has earmarked N1 billion as part of efforts to improve the quality of life for Plateau people and to tackle climate change in the state.

Chairmen of the three local government areas of Bassa, Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi and traditional and community leaders praised the gesture by HYPPADEC with a view to securing and improving the standard of living in the affected areas.
