The IAAF Communications Department in a statement said that IAAF was happy to announce the return of the league.
This provides players with the chance to compare their athletics knowledge against fellow track and field fans from around the world.
It said that players had to identify nine athletes at each IAAF Diamond League meeting who they think would place highest in their events.
“Just as with the real IAAF Diamond League itself, points are then awarded based on how well the athletes perform as well as the overall leader board.
“Players can also set up private leagues with their friends and colleagues.’’
The winner of each meet will receive a personalised engraved glass diamond, while the overall winner will also receive a personalised engraved glass diamond.
It added that that a selection of “money-can’t-buy memorabilia’’ from various meetings on the 2017 IAAF Diamond League circuit would be on offer.
It said that those that took part in last year’s Fantasy Diamond League can log in now and select provisional teams based upon the list of athletes who competed last year.
The statement said that it was advisable to wait until the official entry lists for Doha, the first meeting of the season, are released before making final selections.
It added that players can log in or register for the 2017 Fantasy Diamond League.
The IAAF Diamond League is composed of 14 of the best invitational track and field meetings in the world.
The meetings are spread across Asia, Europe, North America and Africa and comprise the top tier of the IAAF’s global one-day meeting competition structure.
The winners of each discipline in the finals will receive 40,000 dollars cash prize and a spectacular Diamond Trophy.
