The Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, Hon. Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo has distributed food palliatives to residents to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal on food prices in the country.
The gesture was the 10th edition of the monthly Food Palliative he started in October 2023.
Okeowo said: ”The Federal Government led by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu envisaged that the removal of the fuel subsidy could bring hardship to the people, he increased allocations coming to the Local Governments, with clear instructions that the money should be used to cushion the effects of the removal of the subsidy.

”In Ifelodun LCDA, we have followed these instructions to the fullest. Every month without stopping, we give out 1000 food palliative to the residents across the seven political wards and this is one of the reasons why the parents told their children not to join the protest. In our council area, 500 youths, 500 aged, and 250 young families are receiving N10,000 each every month. We embarked on free healthcare for those with special health challenges, people cannot easily forget these gestures.
A former Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and ex-member of the House of Representative for Ajeromi Ifelodun Federal constituency, Hon. Kolawole Taiwo commended Okeowo for his consistency in the provision of the palliative. He charged the residents to promote peace and harmony so that the effects of the Local Government could yield dividends
