Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, has assured the aged in the council area of regular food palliatives to provide succour and cushion the effects of the economic situation of the country.
The foodstuffs, including rice, beans, and others, were distributed to one thousand beneficiaries.
”The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said that we should go and wet the ground and make the residents happy,” Ashimi told the aged residents.

Expatiating further, the council chairman said: ”This morning, I visited the aged and the very weak to share palliatives with them. We are aware of the fact that not all the aged can gather at the council secretariat because they are looking frail and vulnerable; across all the eight wards in company of the Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Ojomu and Councillors, we put smiles on their faces, we may not be able to eradicate poverty and hunger but we can reduce it through this medium.,” he added.
