IG orders security at prayer grounds, others

The Inspector-General of Police (IG), Usman Baba, has ordered heavy deployment of police officers, especially intelligence operatives, traffic officers and other operational assets of the force, for adequate security ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The IG equally ordered that adequate priority be accorded to prayer grounds, highways, recreational centres, financial institutions, especially ATM and POS points.

A statement yesterday by the Force spokesman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, directed that all men deployed must be properly briefed and adequately supervised to ensure they maintain high level of pro-activeness, visibility patrols and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

The statement reads: “The IG, on behalf of the Force Management Team, and the entire workforce of the Nigeria Police, felicitates with all Muslim faithful as they mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr. The IG admonishes them to practicalise empathy, faith, charity and other salient teachings of Ramadan in their relationship with others.
