Olufunke Oshonaike has ruled herself out of 2024 Olympic Games in Paris after her premature exit at Tokyo 2020.
Oshonaike was beaten 4-1 by American Liu Juan in the preliminary round of the women’s singles of table tennis event at the on-going Games but the former African champion has ruled herself out of the next Olympic Games in Paris.
” I will only be in Paris as a spectator or better still as an officiai,” she said.”I don’t think I will be competing at the Olympic Games in Paris but since I live in Hamburg which is close to Paris, I will likely go there as a spectator or an official because I don’t think I want to go for eight Olympic Games.”

She, however, expressed her disappointment over early exit, while urging upcoming athletes not to give up on their dream.
“Giving up is not an option as dream still comes through. It was very tough for me qualifying for Tokyo as I was emotionally down before the qualification but I never gave up,” she explained.
“The postponement of the Olympic Games was traumatic; don’t give up as dreams still come through. Don’t allow anybody to look or talk down on you,” she added.
