Industrial Court partners ICMC for staff training, capacity building

PRESIDENT of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), Justice Benedict Kanyip has pledged to partner the Institute of Chartered Mediators  and Conciliators (ICMC) for training and skill development of its staff.

Justie Kanyip spoke while receiving an ICMC delegation in Abuja.

They also  considered opportunities for collaboration on capacity building for NICN staff.

ICMC President Chief Emeka Obegolu said the visit was aimed at boosting the organisation’s relationship with the Judiciary.

According to him, a synergy between the duo would help to achieve one of the new administration’s key concerns.

Responding, Kanyip assured that the the team that the court would continue to partner with the ICMC on staff training.

Other Judges present at the meeting were Justice E. N. Agbakoba,  Justice R. B. Haastrup and  Justice P. A. Bassi.

Others were the Chief Registrar of the court, Mr. O. W. Daudu and acting Director, NICN Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre, Mrs Mubarakah Abd-Rasheed.

The ICMC was established in 1999 with the mandate to regulate mediation practice, train prospective candidates, as well as encourage organisations and institutions to adopt mediation and conciliation as the primary mechanisms for addressing disputes.
