Health information management has been described as an important part of healthcare delivery.

At the Health Information Management Week between April 18 and 21, experts reiterated importance of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) as significant in healthcare and relevance of new skill sets, passion and diligence, to staff and patients.

They argued it was necessary to reassess processes and performance of practitioners, showcasing the ideal and improved skill sets for optimal performance, to serve healthcare delivery.

Medical Director of General Hospital, Apapa, Dr. Keshinro Ajibola, thanked participants, saying: ‘I’m happy the hospital is part of the Health Information Community celebration.

This celebration is in cognisance of the role health information managers play and their impact in healthcare delivery.

‘’I celebrate those who ensure health stories remain accurate, accessible and well protected. ”

Head of the hospital’s Health Information Management, Jolayemi Olabisi, described EMR as a significant pillar to faster delivery, saying it made documentation of patients easy and quicker.
