Jay the King, Fiokee collaborate in new single

Teaming up with ace, guitarist, Fiokee, fast-rising singer, John James Olikpe popularly known as Jay the King is currently making waves on social media and radio stations with his latest single ‘Fi E Shaya’.

The collaboration also has a stunning video, shot in Los Angeles and directed by Sebastein Ricci.

With a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the university of Lagos, Olikpe, though raised in Nigeria the US based started his music career professionally in 2008.

Speaking about his passion for music Jay the King said “I’ve always been about the entertainment industry so apart from just being an artiste, I want to be in the position where I can help other talents come up. There is so much talent in the entertainment industry. I want to help people when I can.”

Reminiscing his childhood experiences, he continues: “Growing has been tough because I grew up in a country where as a young man, you needed to work extra hard to get anything you own. It was also tough making music, financially, and also balancing it with school as well as trying to figure out what to do with my life.”

On his strategy into breaking into the Nigerian music industry, he maintained thus; “The Nigerian music now is growing. Back in the day, there was only room for a few people but now it is expanding. As long as you have something different, there’s always room for you. I am not worried that my music won’t fit in. I have confidence in my sound and style of music. My streaming numbers across distribution platforms have been on the increase which signifies that I am on the right path.”

For more collaboration and up and coming music acts, he hinted that he is in talks with some artistes but however would love to do something with Burna Boy.
