THE first Jigawa State civilian governor, Ali Saad Birnin-Kudu, who dumped the People Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday picked the All Progressive Congress (APC) membership card at Birnin-Kudu Cikin Gari polling unit in Birnin-Kudu Local Government Area.
It was learnt that the former governor registered with scores of his political loyalists and supporters in the local government amidst celebration.
Addressing the party supporters, Kudu said his decision was informed by APC’s good structure, leadership and commitment to giving the country purposeful and stable governance.
He said: “I decided to join the APC for me to identify with people of proven integrity in my new party; those who will say no to politics of hatred, no to politics of indiscrimination and baseless sentiments, not people with loosed vision of impunity and self-centred attitudes.”
According to him, joining the APC was not for material gain but to offer positive contributions to the greatness of the people, the nation and the party.
The former governor expressed his commitment to ensure the party’s success in next year’s general elections.
Kudu added: “My desire for joining the APC was nothing short of love and concern for my people and be part of history that will identify me with the people who have the concern of their people and the country at heart; to work for its greatness in the overall interest of the nation.”
