Kano slashes March salaries of political office holders

Kano on Tuesday slashed the salaries of political office holders in the state by 50 per cent for March.

The government gave “dwindling resources” as reason for its decision.

Commissioners for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, in a statement, explained those affected by the slash include: Governor, Deputy Governor, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and all public office holders in the state.

He explained at the local government level, the salary slash affect the chairmen, vice-chairmen, elected councilors, supervisory councilors, advisers and secretaries of local governments.
