Katsina to improve schools’ standards through monitoring

The Katsina State Government has assured private school owners  of constant inspection and monitoring of their activities.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Badamasi Lawal, who gave the assurance while inaugurating Kusharaman Academy owned by Jaiz Charity and Development Foundation in Katsina, assured that the state government will continue to support privately-owned institutions whenever there is the need.

He also assured that the state government will continue with regular inspection, monitoring and supervision of higher institutions in order to improve the standard of the schools.

The Commissioner further called on teachers to inspire the students, saying that good teachers explain to students, while superior teachers demonstrate to them.

The Chief Executive Officer of Jaiz and Charity Foundation, Dr Imam Abdullahi Shuaibu commended the pioneering role played by the state government in the education sector as well as the choice of Katsina State as a pioneering leader in the education sector.

He prayed for God to bless Kusaharaaama Academy and Katsina State.

In another development, the wife of Katsina State Governor Hajiya Zakkiya Aminu Bello Masari has distributed Mama Kits to expectant mothers in Katsina.

While sharing the kits in Mani Local Government Area of Katsina State as part of her non-governmental organisation’s (NGO) initiative tagged “Women, Youths and Children Improvement Support Initiative, (WYCISI), Zakkiya described the initiative as part of efforts aimed at supporting the communities to improve their livelihoods and well-being.

Mrs Masari called on parents, families and caregivers to continue to embrace routine health promotion and preventive services being provided at health facilities and community levels.

She said: “I urge timely and continuous uptake of interventions such as routine immunisations for children from birth up to 15 months, early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding up to 6 months, complementary feeding; routine antenatal care for expectant mothers and facility delivery which is very important for the woman and her newborn.

The Executive Secretary, PHCDA, Dr. Shamsudeen Yahaya said the event provided a suitable platform for the citizens to avail themselves with available high impact, cost-effective maternal, newborn and child health services such as routine Immunisation against childhood vaccine, preventable disease, antenatal care and early diagnosis and treatment of minor ailments.
