HUSBAND of the murdered Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Woman Leader, Elder Simeon Abuh has cried out that the family has been abandoned by the party after his wife was gruesomely killed.
Mrs Salome Abuh was burnt alive last November in her house in Ochadamu, Ofu Local Government Area of the state by suspected political thugs.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, Elder Abuh said, “My wife, Salome, was burnt alive and four houses in our family compound were also burnt down, with the fifth, made inhabitable, on Monday, November 18, 2019 by All Progressives Congress (APC) thugs.
“It is based on this that I wish to formally set the records straight through this medium with a view to letting the world know that neither government at any level nor any political party has commiserated with us, either as a family or me, the husband.
“We wish to call on relevant organisations and well-meaning individuals to come to our aid as we passionately appeal for adequate compensation and justice to justify her rights to life and association.”

Recalling the grim incident, Abuh, flanked by three of his children, said, “On Saturday 16th November 2019, my wife and I headed to our voting unit (Ochadamu Primary School Polling Unit). Upon sighting us, a group of young APC boys accosted us chanting GYB 4+4, and that the polling unit was already delivered to APC.”
Abuh alleged that the leader of the group boasted that he was going to deal with his younger brother, Gowon Abuh, a PDP agent at that polling unit.
“Gentlemen of the press, I took such to be idle talk. So I cast my vote and went home, leaving my wife behind to watch the voting process being a party leader,” he said.
“While resting in the company of other friends at home, my brother Gowon Abuh ran back to inform us that one of the young men was assaulting my wife.
“On Monday, November 18, 2019, I received a call that some of those thugs were in a drinking joint, close to our house and threatening to deal with some key PDP leaders starting from Gowon and the Woman Leader.
“These boys surrounded the house shooting sporadically and set the houses on fire, burnt my wife alive to death and burnt down four houses in our compound.”
Abuh has appealed to the United Nations, the British High Commission, among other international organisations to assist the family in getting justice for the gruesome killing of his wife by political thugs.
He also urged President President Muhammadu Buhari, the PDP and Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello to intervene and ensure that those behind the heinous crime are brought to book, and to rebuild the family houses that were burnt by the thugs.
