The councilor representing Ward B, Agboyi Ketu Local Council Development Authority, Oluwatoyin Odegbesan, has distributed food items to her constituents as part of measures to cushion effects of the lockdown ordered by the Federal Government to curtail the spread of COVID-19.

The food packages, which contained semovita, rice, yam, vegetable oil and tomato paste, were distributed to her constituents through the six community development associations under her jurisdiction.

Odegbesan explained she decided to distribute the food items to ensure that none of her constituents go hungry during the lockdown.

According to the lawmaker, the initiative was to add more supplements to the several relief initiatives undertaken by the state government and the Agboyi-Ketu LCDA led by Dele Oshinowo.

She said: “As an elected official enjoying the mandate of my constituents, it is important during these trying times to identify with my people and render my little support to the benefits of mankind.

“Apart from this ongoing drive, at the   commencement of the government-sanctioned lockdown, I doled out N10,000  each to the six community development associations under my jurisdiction as part of measures to support them in providing relief packages for the  less-privileged persons in their various domains.”

A resident, Mr Babalola Kabiru, commended the councillor for her gesture.

While calling on other public office holders to emulate her, Kabiru said the gesture would go a long way in cushioning the effect of the lockdown on the people.
