Farmers and agro-allied practitioners in Lagos State have been trained on proper record keeping of activities and transactions.
The training, organised by the Lagos State Agro-Processing, Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) Project, held at the Johnson Agiri Centre in Oko-Oba, Agege.
Commissioner for Agriculture Gbolahan Lawal noted that proper record keeping is a vital part of modern farm management.
He said: “I implore you to be a financial manager by keeping accurate farm records, establishing and maintaining a proven record-keeping system. Past experiences have shown that farmers who keep records are usually successful.

“Today, we are also launching the farm record handbook and an e-record portal; an application that can collect, organise and categorise records to enhance good farm management, preservation, retrieval, use, and disposition.”
State Project Coordinator of APPEALS Project Mrs. Oluranti Ogiebor said the training was conceived to enhance the productivity of farmers.
“Basically, this project is about enhancing the productivity of our farmers. To achieve productivity, we must have good record keeping to add value to our work,” she said.
