Lagos to schools: prioritise healthy living

The Lagos State Government has urged primary schools in the state to inculcate the values of healthy living in pupils.

The governmrnt also distributed  toothpastes to pupils of some primary schools in the Ifako-Ijaiye area of the state in celebration of the Sustainable Development Goals Week by the Office of SDGs and Investment, Lagos State.

Speaking at the event which was held at African Church Primary School and First African Church Mission School, all located at the Ifako-Ijaiye  Local Government, Lagos, Senior Special Assistant, Office of Sustainable Development Goals & Investment, Mr. Lekan Fatodu noted  that the event was in partnership with Procter & Gamble and focused on enhancing healthy living practices, good sanitation and good hygiene.

Fatodu said that the pogramme was aimed at enhancing SDG 3; Good Health & Well Being.

He said: “We are identifying underserved communities or disadvantaged communities with the state.It is in partnership with Procter & Gamble and focuses on enhancing healthy living practices, good sanitation, good hygiene practices.

The SDG office is targeting primary Schools so they can adopt the culture of healthy living and good hygiene early in life.”

He also noted that the distribution of the toothpastes to the pupils was a testament to the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu towards improving the well-being of Lagosians.

He advised  teachers to keep educating  learners on importance of personal wellbeing  and general health of pupils.

Chairman Ifako Ijaiye Local Government, Mr Usman Hamzat,lauded the state government for prioritising welfare of pupils.
