LAGOS State Commissioner for Agriculture, Prince Gbolahan Lawal, has alerted livestock dealers on the charcoal anthrax disease.

Lawal disclosed this when he met with the Sheep and Goats Farmers Association members to sensitise them on the disease outbreak in Niger Republic.

According to him, charcoal anthrax is an infectious zoonotic disease that manifests either on the skin as a scratch, progresses into sepsis or as a pulmonary infection contracted through inhalation of the causative micro-organisms.

He added that the disease occurs directly or indirectly through contact with infected animals or contaminated animal products.
