The Mansfield Apartment has complained of land grabbers encroaching on its land at Surulere area, Lagos State.

It added that its staffers are being molested and chased away from the property with the assistance of the police.

At a conference in Lagos, a director with Mansfield Apartment Mr. Alex Adefarasin said his organisation had approach the court for a redress over the property.

According to him, Mansfield Apartment has the documents which it acquired from Madam Efunroye Tinubu in 2019. He said: “Having fulfilled all legal purchase, we subsequently commenced preliminary work on the project. To our dismay, sometimes in February this year, agents of a company in conjunction with some policemen, storm our site, drove our workers away and maliciously destroyed the two structures we have put on ground.

“Prior to the criminal trespass and malicious damage, we and these interlopers had held a meeting with the Inspector General of Police in Abuja, wherein the IGP decried the use of police by any party to the dispute. The IGP clearly made it known that it is not the responsibility of the police to be involved in land matters.”

Adefarasin explained that the matter which was already in court and had been heard between them and the land grabbers, but took a twist as the grabbers put the lives of their staffers at danger by chasing out workers from the site.

“We have petitioned the IGP on this because instead of resorting to self help through illegal use of policemen. Therefore, aggrieved party that feels that it stands on firm legal footing should be able to approach the court for final adjudication.

“We are law abiding company; we have never and will never soil our reputation through illegal transaction. Our impeachable records speak for us,” he said.
