Lawmaker donates books, uniforms to Delta schools

The member representing Sapele State Constituency, Delta State House of Assembly, Felix Anirah has donated instructional materials, school uniforms and cash prizes to indigent students in four secondary schools in Sapele, Sapele LGA.

He urged wealthy Nigerians to help the downtrodden, adding that the country has never had it so bad.

Anirah, who spoke at Zik Grammar School Sapele, said: “The level of poverty is beyond imagination, I think those who are fairly above waters should try and help those who are helpless,  a lot of people can not even feed, so we have to do everything possible to assist them,” adding that the country is passing through hard times and the administration has done what they should not have done.

“The Naira has been devalued, salaries are useless, people can no longer feed, so we are doing our best to help the needy” noting that the gesture was all about putting a little change and smiles on the faces of the pupils.

He said the Anirah Foundation had in the past provided exercise books, desks, tables and chairs for pupils and teachers including payment of examination fees for students.

He assured that the foundation is determined to make the difference no matter how little as long as it would impact and put smiles on the faces of beneficiaries.

Schools that benefited from the Felix Anirah Foundation include Ziks Grammar School, Orodje Grammar School, Chude Girls Grammar School, and Okotie Eboh Grammar School all in Sapele.

He assured of the award  of scholarships to the best five students of schools in the locality.

Head teacher of Okotie Eboh Grammar School, Mrs Oborogbe, praised the foundation for the gesture, adding that it had put smiles on the faces of the less-privileged in the community.
