Lawmaker renovates constituency schools

In a bid to ensure that pupils and students in his constituency study in an environment conducive to teaching and learning, the member representing Langtang North-North State Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Pirfa Jingfa Tyem has embarked on massive reconstruction and renovation of schools in his constituency.

The lawmaker is also providing boreholes in some communities in Langtang.

The lawmaker, who spoke to reporters in Jos on his mid-term in office,  said he was not comfortable over the dilapidated condition of some of the schools, hence his decision to intervene.

His words: “I would continue to work to better the lives of citizens of my constituency.

“So far, I am constructing three blocks of classrooms at Government Secondary School (GSS) Zamko and work is ongoing on two blocks of classrooms at Mabe and also constructing two blocks of classrooms at Nderem.”

The lawmaker also said he constructed a police out-post station at Zamko as well as renovation of Kuffen district office.

On empowerment, Tyem said he has distributed 100 grinding machines to constituents and also distributed 80 crafted wheelchairs for people living with disabilities.

He said: “We have distributed wrappers to vulnerable and aged women within the constituency. I would always empower the downtrodden in my locality.”

He stressed that he recently presented an HP scanner to the National Identity Management office at Langtang North to ease printing of NIN numbers as well as resuscitation of Nasarawa Ward electricity transformer.

He said: “I recently facilitated the first phase of planting of 10,000 economic trees to control erosion at Langtang North Dam as well as expansion of Langtang North Dam and its integration to meet up seasonal and irrigation purposes.

“I have also carried out renovation of boreholes which were neglected in past years in 11 wards as well as drilled boreholes in several wards.”

The lawmaker further added that he is always in touch with his people at the grassroots.

“I always organised a town hall meeting where I brief my Constituents and as well listen to their advice in areas that needed to be put to consideration.

Tyem said he recently launched a constituency office to make Government and legislation close to the people. The essence of this is for Constituents to reach out to him through the office and for prompt action and attention.
