THE lawmaker representing Lagos Mainland Constituency 2 in the House of Assembly, Moshood Oshun, has said he will lift 4,000 of his constituents out of unemployment before the year ends.
He addressed reporters on Wednesday at the venue of an empowerment programme he organised for over 500 constituents at the Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
Oshun said the programme would be held quarterly, adding that by the end of the year, he would have trained 4,000 constituents, thus taking them out of the unemployment market.
According to him, “those undergoing the training in this first quarter are to be trained in shoe-making, bag-making, Kampala-making, paint-making, etc; while the second quarter participants will be trained in POP, tiling, etc.

He said the priority now should be acquisition of skills and not certificates.
Oshun said: “This is why we are training over 500 constituents today to take them away from the unemployment market. They can then employ people and decongest the unemployment market.”
He urged the participants to be attentive, learn the trade properly and make use of it after learning.
The legislator promised to empower those that perform well after the training to start the trade.
“We will give them the materials or money to start the business.
“This is going to be done quarterly and in one year my plan is to train a minimum of 4,000 constituents. So it’s going to be a quarterly training,” he said.
