THE Perfect Master, Satguru Maharaj ji, has condemned the harassment, intimidation, extortion and killing of innocent citizens by the disbanded FSARS, which triggered the recent civil unrest in the country.
The revolt of youths against police brutality last month engendered the #EndSARS protests, which degenerated into shootings at Lekki tollgate, Lagos.
The protest was later hijacked by hoodlums, who unleashed looting and arson on the government and some individuals’ properties.
Maharaj ji, who attributed the development to lack of proper application of Police Act by officers, condemned brutality against the citizenry.
“Having witnessed the development in our country in the last few weeks, I condemn in totality the actions, behaviours and attitude of the SARS police and their operations in the last few years.
“As a result of lack of proper application of Police Act by officers, the inability of high ranking officials in the force and political class to question or query dangerous trends of the Nigeria Police acting with impunity, in most cases always end up being swept under the carpet,” he said.

He said the impunity perpetrated by the operatives has culminated in the weeks of long protests called by youths in order to vent their frustrations and grievances on the unabated killings of innocent citizens alarming rate of unemployment, illegal detention, extortion, physical assault and brutality, collection of bail money, extra-judicial killings as well as an outlook of a bleak future with no hope in sight.
Maharaj ji slammed the soldiers, who allegedly killed protesters at Lekki tollgate, saying it was a dastardly act.
He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to constitute a judicial commission of inquiry to find out what led to the loss of lives and those who were negligent in their duties towards safeguarding lives and properties.
While calling for a change of leadership and entrenchment of an egalitarian society, he sympathised with the bereaved families.
