The Lagos Golden Heart Lions Club has donated ₦5 million to the Pediatric Cancer Ward at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) to assist in covering medical expenses for children battling cancer
The donation was announced as part of the club’s community projects for the 2024/2025 Lions Year. The initiative, themed “Healing Hearts, Saving Lives”, aimed to provide relief to families struggling with the financial burden of cancer treatments.
Speaking on the gesture, Lion Taiwo Oladayo Fatoki, District Governor for District 404-B4 Nigeria, said: “Our aim is to ease the financial pressure on families and ensure that children facing cancer have access to the medical care they need.”
The presentation was scheduled to take place at LASUTH. Hospital officials welcomed the donation, nothing that such support plays a crucial role in improving access to care for young patients.
“This contribution will go a long way in helping families who cannot afford essential treatment for their children,” a LASUTH representative commented.
The donation was one of several initiatives by the Lions Club aimed at supporting healthcare services and vulnerable groups in the community.
