Lockdown: Edo community gets palliatives from UK

The Sobe Community in the UK has donated some palliatives to hundreds of elderly men and women in Sobe, Owan West Local Goverment Area of Edo State to mitigate the sufferings occassioned by the ongoing lockdown as a result of  Coronavirus pandemic.

The presentation of the foodstuffs that  included rice,

beans, garri vegetable oil, bread, washing soap  and other essential items was made penultimate Saturday directly to each recipient at home.

The group, which is made up of Sobe sons and duaghters in the UK led by Mrs Rosemary Fagbemi, Mrs Theresa Itua and Mr Eric Imiere said it mbarked on the project to distribute some  relief packages to the elderly in Sobe because of the ongoing lockdown in the country due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“The initial target number was 110 but we able to reach out to close to 300 elders.

We came up with workable list of individuals drawn from the 10 quarters of Sobe who could be identified and the packages delivered to them at their homes using bike to keep in line with the rule of social distancing.

“The exercise was successfully carried out in Sobe yesterday morning. The recipients were very  appreciative as they continually offered prayers,” the group said.

The traditional ruler of Sobe, His Royal Highness Chief Anthony Ero Aleburu, who was a recipient commended the kind gesture of the group describing them as not only true children of Sobe, but also ambassadors of the community and the state. He prayed God to continually  bless them and enrich their coasts as they put smiles on peoples faces.
