THE police in Ebonyi State have confirmed the death of two lovers at Umuezeoka Umueze, Effium Autonomous community in Ohaukwu Local Government.
Spokesperson Loveth Odah gave the names of the lovers as Ifeanyi Nwokwu and Nkechi Ezaka Ucha.
They were found dead inside the man’s house.
The deceased were found by neighbours, who had organised a search for them.
The neighbours, who had not seen them for some time, decided to search for them and their search yielded result as the lovers were found inside the man’s room.
A source told our correspondent that besides Nwokwu, another man in the community was dating Nkechi.
The source alleged that the rival might have masterminded the killing of Nwokwu and Nkechi out of jealous.
He said: “Ifeanyi Nwokwu and Nkechi Ezaka Ucha were lovers. The woman lost her husband years ago. The man invited the woman to his house. Nwokwu’s wife stays in her father’s compound.

“In the night, the man and the woman were found dead inside the man’s house. The two lovers had wounds on their foreheads. Some suspects have been arrested.
“There is a man who is known by everybody in the community for also dating Nkechi. He has been arrested.
“People are suspecting him to be the mastermind of the incident.”
A resident, Jeremiah Obaji, described the incident as worrisome.
He said similar incidents have occurred in the community and appealed to the police to beef up security.
The Coordinator of Effium Development Centre, Agbo Sunday, confirmed the incident.
He said the death should be investigated to arrest the culprits.
Odah said: “We will investigate the matter. Yes, there is a report that two persons, a married man and a widow, were found inside a room, but we don’t have the details now.
“According to report, their bodies were almost decomposing. But the perpetrators are not yet known. We are investigating the incident and very soon we will arrest those behind it.”
