Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has sent the names of seven commissioner-nominees to the Speaker of the House of Assembly.
The nominees, it was gathered, are seven of the earlier sacked commissioners.
The names of the nominees and their last assigned ministries, according to a source, include: Prof. Dahud Sangodoyin (Works and Transport), Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo (Justice and Attorney General), and Siju Lawal (Establishment and Training).
Others are Mr. Akinola Ojo (Finance), Bayo Lawal (Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters), Seun Ashamu (Energy) and Mrs. Faosat Sanni (Women Affairs and Social Inclusion).
It was learnt that the seven are the first batch of the 17 list of the commissioners that will form Makinde’s new executive council (exco).
Governor Makinde on June 29 dissolved the exco.
Those affected include the Chief of Staff (CoS), Chief Bisi Ilaka and 17 commissioners.
The governor last month announced the appointment of Mr. Segun Ogunwuyi as his Chief of Staff.
The remaining exco members, who were not affected by the earlier sack, are the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, Head of Service (HOS) Mrs. Amidat Ololade Agboola and the Director General of Due Process Office, Ms Tara Adefope.
It was unclear last night if Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin would present the names before the lawmakers during today’s plenary.
Efforts to reach the Speaker’s aides to confirm the report proved abortive, as their lines were unreachable at press time.
Governor Makinde has presented the instrument of office to the Olu of Igbo-Ora land, Oba Jimoh Olajide Titiloye, Asoroolu Ayinla V, at Igbo-Ora, Ibarapa Central, Oyo State.
Presenting the staff of office on behalf of the governor, the Chief of Staff, Ogunwuyi, stressed the roles played by monarchs in securing lives and property.
He congratulated the new king and urged him to collaborate with the government in fast-tracking development in his community.
