Man arraigned for ‘causing injury’

Lagos State Police Command has arraigned Mr. Kaosara Ganiyu, 19, at an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly causing grievous bodily harm on another person, using a razor blade.

The defendant is standing trial on two counts of breach of the peace and inflicting grievous harm.

He, however, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Mr. A. A. Adesanya.

Prosecuting Inspector Simon Uche alleged that the defendant committed the offences last December 19 at a checkpoint in Ojo.

He said a fight ensued between the defendant and the complainant, Mr. Moses Olajide, following an earlier disagreement.

Uche alleged that Ganiyu brought out a razor blade from his pocket and cut the complainant in the neck.

He said consequently, the complainant bled profusely.

The prosecutor said the defendant was taken to the police station after the complainant had been rushed to a hospital for treatment.

He said the offences contravened sections 168 and 246 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Adesanya granted the defendant N30, 000 bail with two sureties in the like sum.

He adjourned the case till February 24.
