Manufacturers to protect workers against covid-19

THE Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Adeniyi Adebayo on Monday said  measures were being put in place to protect and promote the health and safety of industrial and related workers.

Adebayo said this during a briefing with the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) on protective measures to prevent and mitigate the impact of covid-19 (coronavirus) on Nigerian economy in Abuja.

According to Adebayo, this protective measures include their families, communities and the nation at large.

The measures put in place are, that the management of all industrial sites should sensitize and educate their workers on compliance with COVID-19.

He also added that, all industries shall provide requisite facilities and supplies for the prevention of covid-19 in line with extant guidelines with National Centre for Disease Control. NCDC.

He urged industries to do their best to sustain ongoing operation to avoid reduction or shut down of production.

Manufacturers are also charged to scale up production especially if essential commodities such as pharmaceuticals, consumables, sanitary and hygiene products needed to curtail the spread of the virus, covid -19.

The President, MAN, Mansur Ahmed said the association is partnering with thr ministry to ensure the right thing is done.
