YOU suddenly appeared on the scene. Do you have a chance?
Well, a chance for me is 200 per cent guaranteed. I don’t wait to have a chance. I’ll rather create it because I have all it takes. Also, I have got the best team that is strongly behind me anytime. Besides, God has already given me a throne that no one can sit on.
Tell us what you have been up to recently?
Recently, I have been in the studio making good music in order to meet up with high expectations from my fans.
Now that you are here, how do you intend to have a break?
How I intend to have a break is a matter of being unique, industrious and consistent. I believe God’s grace is sufficient for me and I wouldn’t stop commending my G-Worldwide team for the good works so far. I got the best CEO, ‘Emperor Geezy,’ who’s also very ready to put his all. I also have a result-oriented manager, ‘Louiza Williams,’ who always ensures no day passes without me achieving something. With all these, I can boldly say I don’t only intend to have a break but to dominate the music scene.
What is it like signing a contract with G-Worldwide?
Wow! I must confess and I can say it anytime even in years to come. I feel G-Worldwide Entertainment is the best platform for me to have a space in the industry. They are quite unique in their dealings with great team spirit. One will hardly know who the boss is as everyone seems to be simple and easy going with high level of professionalism. Words can’t explain how exactly I feel. But trust me; my career is beautiful up here.
Talking about keeping a space in the entertainment world, do you have what it takes?
(Smiles) A renowned label like G-Worldwide won’t sign an artiste they don’t believe in or that doesn’t have what it takes to excel. I won’t say much but watch out for Ajura.
Do you believe in the saying that you have to bend your rules to make it?
Bending my rules to make it? Well, I stand for whatever rule that works for me and in most cases where necessary to bend, why not? As long as it’s legal and will put cheese in my account. (Laughs)
While off the scene, how were you surviving?
While off the scene, I was surviving through music production hustle and also performing at local gigs where I got stipends to just hold my side.
How did you manage as a young guy with your mother also playing fatherly role in your life?
Mennn! As a young guy, how I manage with my mother playing both father and a mother role hasn’t been easy at all. But my mum being a strong woman had to hustle and grind whatever possible to bring me to a level where I started paying my school fees myself.
Do you sometimes feel the vacuum of a male support?
I do not sometimes feel the vacuum of a male support because my mum didn’t make us feel that way. But I just miss my dad. I really wished I heard him talk to me. Wished he was there to give me deep secrets about life.
Any plans to marry soon to avoid female distraction?
Plans to marry soon? For real. I would have loved to marry early…but not anytime soon because I need all the time now to focus on my craft in order to make money as no woman will like to settle with a man without money.
There have always been issues of uncertainty in contract-signing by artiste. Do you see yourself leaving soon?
The issues of uncertainty in contract signing by artistes will never stop because most artistes tend to forget how hungry they were at some point and keep seeking for more than what is real but I really wished people understand the risk it takes to invest in talents. And with sincerity and trust… there’s gonna be durability. So, it’s too early to even think of such.
Any talk on you changing your kind of music?
My music is generally based on message. Though I’m a very versatile singer, but 60 per cent of my message could be infused in any genre or sound whatsoever.
Your label signed you and another artiste at the same time. Won’t there be a sort of competition?
There’s nothing like competition and if at all there will be any in the future then it will only make us work harder. Besides, my music is different. It carries a message. I just wanna talk to people and heal broken hearts. So we have our paths and our audiences.
Entertainers are known for luxury lifestyle. How do you intend to live now that you are being pushed to the public?
I’m definitely just gonna be me. I’m not the show-off kind of a person. I like things on low-key.
Tell us about your background?
Hmmm! I grew up in the ghetto on the streets of Ojo Alaba, here in Lagos. And you know what the ghetto life is like – opportunity rate is low, poverty rate is high, no love, and no peace. But it’s amazing how we managed to survive through these things.
