Daredevil gunmen invaded a popular supermarket in Enugu metropolis, carting away tens of bags of rice, cartons of noodles, soft drinks and other expensive items worth millions of naira.
The incident happened Monday evening around 6.40pm in one of the supermarkets at Onu Asata Roundabout, by O’Connor Street /Presidential Road Ogui New Layout Enugu.
Eye witnesses told our correspondent that the masked armed robbers numbering nine stormed the supermarket in three Hilux Vans and shot sporadically into the air before loading goods from the shop into their waiting vehicles.

The gunshots scared away passersby as the robbers carted away valuables including about 40 bags of rice, cartons of noodles, gas cylinders, cartons of bear and soft drinks among others.
The total value of items lost to the looting at the market was not yet ascertained because it was massive as the robbers escape with the loots in the three vehicles.
It was learned that the robbers had a field day as no policemen from Ogui police station, which is a shouting distance away from the scene of crime, interrupted while the robbery lasted.
When contacted, the spokesman of the state police command, Daniel Ndukwe, said he would have to verify the information, but never did as of the time of filing this report.
