Zamfara Governor Bello Matawalle will defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, has hinted.

Sources told The Nation the Governor may join the APC on Tuesday, months after speculations of his defection began.

“So Zamfara is back home. Welcome, Matawalle,” Ahmad posted on his Facebook Page on Sunday morning.

Should Matawalle joins the APC, he will become the latest Governor to defect to the ruling party in 2021 after David Umahi(Ebonyi) and Ben Ayade (Cross River).
