The Kano State Ministry of Justice has requested a Kano High Court to free, Wosilat Tasiu, 14, who was arraigned over the alleged murder of her 35-year-old husband and three others, who ate the poisonous meal she gave them.
The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice had filed a four-count charge bordering on culpable homicide against the teenage.
The commissioner was seeking a death penalty to be passed on the accused.
But the government reversed its death sentence on the teenager.
A lawyer, Lamido Soron Dinki, filed an application, on behalf of the Ministry of Justice, to save Tasiu from the hangman’s noose.
The lawyer urged the court to squash the charges against Tasiu and set her free.
But the court declined to grant the request.
It adjourned the matter till June 9.
The court held that the application was brought orally, adding that, its request for the dismissal of the charges against the accused ought to be in writing.
