Members of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Fulani Socio-Cultural Association have rejected the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The association called him a Fulani hater, accusing him of latching onto the false Amnesty International (AI) Report with the hope of garnering political capital from farmers/herders conflict.
Its National Secretary, Saleh Alhassan, spoke yesterday in Abuja, the nation’s capital, at an emergency world media briefing on the AI report.
The association endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term at the briefing.
Alhassan said: “We totally condemn the desperate vituperation of Atiku Abubarkar, the PDP presidential candidate, for latching on the false Amnesty International Report with the hope of garnering political capital from the farmers/herders conflict and the plight of the pastoralists in Nigeria.
“We call on our members and peace-loving Nigerians to not only condemn him for the hate and naked dance in the market place but to totally reject him as a presidential candidate as his intentions are inimical to progress, development and peaceful coexistence of the country.
“We blame Obasanjo for hoisting a shadowy character like Atiku as Vice President on the nation and now trying desperately to bring him back as President.
“We are calling on HRH, the Lamido of Adamawa, to strip Atiku Abubakar of his title as Wazirin Adamawa for his open hatred for Fulani pastoralists and surrounding himself with ethnic irredentists and hate speech merchants who have been profiling the Fulani race and calling for their genocide.
“The tittle of Waziri in the Adamawa Emirate should be reserved for only Fulanl sons with a track record of helping and protecting the Fulani race and not a shadowy character with convoluted identity.
“Our sister organisations, the cattle breeders, endorsed President Buhari. I believe it was the right decision. For us, we cannot shy away from supporting a more credible candidate in an era when we are fighting corruption.
We cannot reinforce corruption by supporting a perceived corrupt candidate.

“So, absolutely, our organisation is in total support of President Buhari to continue. By this, we have endorsed him fully; we are not only stopping at that but enforcing all Nigerians, particularly our members, to come out massively to vote for him.”
But the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday said it would not join issues with Miyetti Allah for endorsing President Buhari.
A statement in Abuja, the nation’s capital, by the party’s spokesman and Publicity Director of its Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, said: “Atiku is a democrat and a detrabalised Nigerian who is loved across the six geopolitical zones. He does not hold any ethnic group in contempt. So, we have no reason to join issues with any ethnic group.
“Atiku enjoys the support of Nigerians across the various zones of our nation and the campaign office will not waste precious time doing a tango with ethnic group.”
