The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, on Saturday in Katsina, commended members of Peace Corps of Nigeria for their contributions in restoring peace and security in the state, through collaboration with allied security agencies in the state and constant visits to the emirate council to solicit advice on how to discharge their duties to the public.

The monarch, who made the commendation while receiving members of the state branch of Peace Corps, led by the State Commandant, Salisu Bala Usman, to his palace, thanked the commandant and urged them to continue partnering with other security agencies in the state to ensure total restoration of peace and security. Earlier, the State Commandant of Peace Corps Nigeria told the Emir that they came to remind him of their flagging-off campaign, aimed at making the agency a stronger organisation in the country.

He said the corps’ advocacy campaign, a brainchild of the National Commander, Dr. Dickson A.O. Akoh, was initiated August 14 this year, and is being carried out in all the 36 state commands in the country, adding that the team was at the palace “to discuss problems facing our great nation, especially the challenges of insecurity, more especially in the North East and North West.”
