While the world battles COVID-19 pandemic, with many believing that the pandemic will stay with us for a very long time, Oba Aala of the FCT,  Babajide S O. Falade, has asked Nigeria to look inward.

Falade, a frontline traditionalist, believes that if the Nigerian government supports herbal and traditional practitioners in the country, exposes them to training and monitors the virus, the COVID-19 would be contained totally or at least managed it to a certain extent.

The traditional title holder advised the government to allocate an agency to the body apart from its current status under the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria to avoid conflict of interest.

He said that the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic may be a thing of the past, if it is given an African touch through herbal medicine.

A custodian of Yoruba culture, custom and tradition in the FCT said he chose to be a traditionalist, out of personal conviction.

“Becoming a member is personal. It is easy and our practices are life transforming. Apart from that, calling into traditional religion is not a middle way thing. It is unlike other religions. In traditional religion to be called is from the prophetic hand of a seer who is an Ifa priest,” Falade said.
