Four-bedroom flat consumed in Ilorin

A midnight fire on a building has killed a woman and her two children.

The incident happened on Sunday night at Rainbow Street, Ondo, Ondo West Local Government.

The children were said to be between 11 and 16.

Sources said the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained and that the fire razed the entire building where the victims were sleeping.

They said the Ondo Fire Service failed to respond to distress calls due to lack of water.

“When the fire was raging, we called the Fire Service, only to be informed that there’s no water and chemicals.

“In fact, immediately, the officer switched off his cell phone,” the source said.

Ondo Police spokesman, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident. “Yes, their remains have been deposited at the morgue by the police,” Odunlami said.

Also, a fire outbreak has burnt a four-bedroom flat in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. The fire consumed everything in the building. The incident occurred about 8.52pm at Ita-Elepa.
