The Muslim Community of Lagos State (MCLS) is proposing a post-graduate scholarship scheme to Muslim students.
MCLS President Prof Tajudeen Gbadamosi during at a meeting with Muslim leaders in Ikeja, said the scheme was meant to bridge the gap of Muslim academics.
He explained that the plan was to award 50 students annually.
The award, he said, would be renewed annually provided that the students submit satisfactory performance.
Prof Gbadamosi said MCLS want to more PhD holders and highly skilled individuals.
Imam Shakiru Ayinde Gafar popularly known as ‘Mofesaye’’ called on Muslim organisations to support the scheme and ensure its success.
He said that education is important to mankind.
Deputy National Missioner of Nawair-ur-deen Society of Nigeria Sheikh Sheu Abdulmajeed said Muslim organisations and central mosques across the state should be taxed to contribute to the scheme.
