My plans for FIRS, by Nami

Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Executive Chairman Muhammad Nami on Thursday unfolded his plans for the Service. He said his mission is to achieve President Muhammadu Buhari’s mandate.

The mandate, according to him, is to work with FIRS’ management to widen the nation’s revenue sources.

Speaking at a meeting with FIRS workers on resumption, Nami said: “As we work together to build capacity and raise the revenue for the country. This task, as enormous as it is, requires masterstroke measures, resilience in policy implementation and foresight to evolve novel ideas. I shall spare no effort to summon the courage to actualise this task. Most times, success is borne out of the will to endure hardship such as tax drive entails.”

He told the members of staff that respite has come to them, especially to those who are hardworking and professional in their conduct.

Abiodun Aina, who acted as Executive Chairman for two weeks until Nami’s appointment was confirmed on Wednesday by the Senate, thanked the staff for cooperating with him to handover a peaceful and unified Service to the new chairman.
