NASENI vice chair lauds Buhari for approving centres’ fund

The Executive Vice Chairman, National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) Prof. Mohammed Haruna has applauded  President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the statutory fund for development of centres across states Nigeria as it will drive  infrastructure growth.

A statement  by the Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary, Peter Theophilus,  noted that the agency is better positioned to drive its mandate with recent approval.

According to the statement,  Presidential approval for the Establishment of New NASENI Development Institutes and six agricultural zonal Institutes across the country is targeted at the  actualisation of the agency’s skill acquisition training and youth empowerment programme across the geo-political zones.

“Also, the approval of the Implementation by President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Economic Council of One (1) % Statutory fund of NASENI which before now was not implemented for a period of 30 years will serve as a catalyst in driving Nigeria’s infrastructural growth,” he said.

He added that the agency is  part of the mandate to promote local content growth in the country and is already in partnership with other foreign companies in establishing manufacturing plants in the country.

NASENI is in the process of partnering with Caverton Helicopters to tackle challenges of repairs and assembling of Helicopters in Nigeria as it is part of our mandate which includes the development of relevant processes, capital goods and equipment necessary for job creation and national economic well-being,” he added.

He  stated that the agency is constructing a 750 capacity technology orientation center to build capacity of Nigerian engineers and scientists.
