NIGERIAN Navy has distributed food items and Personal Protective Equipment to Kuje and Jiwa communities in Abuja to mark its 64th anniversary.
Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas said the Navy decided to convert the free medical outreach that often heralds its anniversary to provide palliatives in selected host communities.
Director of Administration at Naval Headquarters Rear Admiral Jatao Luka, who represented the CNS, said the relationship between the Navy and its hosts had led to greater national security.
He said celebration of the anniversary was often a period of deep reflection and merriment, but noted that the merriment was put off because of the mood of the nation.
The Gomo of Kuje, Alhaji Haruna Jibril thanked the Navy for the palliatives.
