NBA AGC: Lawyer makes case for el-Rufai

Governor El-Rufai

An Abuja-based lawyer Kayode Ajulo has advised the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to permit Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to speak at its 60th Annual General Conference.

Ajulo, Principal Partner, Kayode Ajulo and Co. Castle, will be speaking on the topic: Executive Orders and Democratic Governance at the conference that will hold from tomorrow till August 29.

He empathised with lawyers who were angry over the inclusion of the governor as one of the speakers, adding that it was “a matter that stridently calls for concern and intervention.”

Ajulo added: “I must confess to a subjective opposition to the inclusion of some personalities designated as speakers at the conference, but I cannot say I was tempted to deregister myself from participating in the conference.

“Without prejudice to the various allegations levelled against Governor el-Rufai which include his opposition to the rule of law, I am of the view that it is pertinent to accord him the right of hearing where opportunity will be presented to appraise at close range the genuineness or otherwise of the man’s democratic credentials

“I want to appeal to all to give Governor el-Rufai a chance to defend himself and his polices just as I have counselled myself to do with the other speakers whose inclusion my heart had revolted against.
