NCDC activates five new COVID-19 testing labs across 30 States

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has activated five (5) new COVID-19 testing laboratories across 30 States of the federation.

The five new laboratories are – Edo Specialist Hospital, Benin; ATBU Teaching Hospital, Bauchi; Rivers Indorama Company Molecular Lab; State Specialist Hospital, Amachara, Abia; and University of Abuja, Gwagwalada GX Lab.

The NCDC disclosed this in a statement Tuesday in Abuja.

This brings the cumulative tally of laboratories in the NCDC Molecular Laboratory Network to 58.

There are currently 46 PCR diagnostic machines and 12 GeneXpert laboratories in Nigeria.

Also, the total number of COVID-19 tests carried out as at 21st July is 218,233.
