COALITION of All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups and Support Committee in Southsouth has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for authorising a forensic audit on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The group praised Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Godswill Akpabio for his doggedness in the fight against corruption, whichhad ravaged the commission over the years. Briefing reporters in Abuja at the weekend, convener of the group, Elijah Ettah, said the group was grateful to Buhari for his zeal, perseverance and steadfastness in ensuring that the region made progress in the face of strong opposition from those who made NDDC their cash cow.
Ettah noted that the purported N5.47 billion contract for emergency procurement of specialised medical personnel protective equipment (PPE) in the nine states of the region was never awarded by the interim committee as alleged by some individuals.
The group noted that the allegation on the contract award was orchestrated to disrupt the forensic audit by NDDC interim committee, and advised those distracting the committee to desist from doing so and allow it concentrate on its task.
The convener called on stakeholders to come and support the minister and the interim committee for the work they are doing to bring development to the region
