The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has disbursed N3.3 million to 330 women in Oyo State to boost their businesses.

State Coordinator Mrs. Olayinka Olayemi said the programme was under its Micro Enterprises Enhancement Scheme (MEES).

Olayemi said the empowerment was designed to help the women start up and improve their businesses, thereby contributing to economic development and poverty reduction.

She said the women were picked in 10s, from the 33 local governments. Each of the beneficiaries would get N10,000 as financial support to start a micro business of her choice.

Olayemi noted that 300 women, in December, benefited from the scheme, saying their testimonies showed that they were doing well.

She advised beneficiaries to judiciously make use of the revolving loan and ensure good turnover for appreciable opportunity in future.

Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, wife of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, urged the beneficiaries to see the loan as an opportunity to thrive in their businesses.

Southwest Zonal Director Mrs. Awulatu Shafaru, represented by Mrs. Christy Olowogbemi, urged the beneficiaries to ensure effective utilisation of the funds and engage in productive businesses.
