Nine persons have died in an auto crash in Niger barely a week after three persons were burnt to death and several shops burnt in the State.

The accident occurred in Duma village in Edati local government area around 10 am.

The accident involved two trailers, a Sharon commercial vehicle with passengers said to be mainly traders heading for Kudu village for the weekly market and another car.

The commercial vehicle, which was said to be overspeeding, ran into one of the trailers carrying planks while the other trailer carrying some goods ran into another vehicle.

The first crash led to an explosion fuelled when the other vehicles also rammed into the first two vehicles, burying under the trailer conveying goods.

Seven of the nine deceased said to be occupants of the Sharon vehicle were burnt to ashes while others who sustained injuries were taken to the General Hospital, Kutigi.

When contacted, the Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Commission, (FRSC), Mohammed Musa Ahmed, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident
