… Certify FCV Football Academy
… Lagos, Abuja host camps in 2019
The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have tasked the present generation of athletes to marry education with their active participation in sports which is one of the ideals of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
For the Secretary General of NOC, Tunde Popoola, the emergence of Football CV Academy in Nigeria was a welcome development that would help to mentor athletes to give priority to education.
Like NOC scribe, the NFF Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi thumbed up the United Kingdom (UK)-based academy for considering Nigeria as one of their bases in Africa.
“I think through this FCV project, the youth will have a new perception about what life is with the mentoring that come along this program is great. It will lead the young kids who takes on this kind of profession to understand that you have to have some form of education becuase combining education and sports is just ideal so that when they are out of sports, they will have something to fall back on. This is an all inclusive program and I hope the kids will take advantage of it,” Popoola said.
In his remarks, Akinwunmi said: “Football CV has come in a unique way and different opportunity for the kids. They are clearly saying football and education. There is no disguise and this is what other academies should come to say. Many of academies are interested in the kids to become footballers without education but Football CV is saying play the game and gets education.”
For 2019, Lagos and Abuja will host FCV Training Camps for students with two outstanding footballers from the camps getting scholarships to FCV in UK.
For the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dynaspro Promotions, Oluseyi Oyebode, the setting up of FCV academy in Nigeria is a new dawn for football. “It is a great beginning and for the first time, we are having a foreign partner that is so keen on education and football that has been the missing link. We will encourage as many as possible to be part of the first camp so that they can have the taste of what it takes,” Oyebode said.
